Mediocraty

Why do people settle for mediocraty - I just don't get it - I expect the best at least the best to ones ability not the mediocraty - not just getting by - I expect more but people just do not expect more from their students or from their children. I it just so frustrating that this is the way that the world is today - everyone just settles on everything they do!!
